Factory Automation for Large Steel Pipe Manufacturing Plant

Project Duration: 2006-2008
Project Features: Latest technology in drive and control system
Advance safety system
Latest Rockwell components
Works Included: The project was to extend an existing facility to manufacture 16mm thick steel pipes with 0.50m to 1.8m diameter, 11.8m and 13.5m long pipes from 30tonnes steel coils.

Project Outline:

Synertec provided project management methodology, site supervision along with engineering consultancy and procurement.

Procurement
Because the deadline of the project was so short, procurement played a large part in the installation of the plant. The process required that Synertec conduct the procurement and installation of the electrical equipment on a "just-in-time" (JIT) basis.

Site Supervision of Electrical Contractors

  • Collaborate with the Electrical Contractor Team Leader to organize work for the day
  • Provide design support for the electricians and designers
  • Check if the electricians are wiring to the electrical drawings

Implementation and Design

  • Liaise with the suppliers and designers to comply with the equipment design
  • Comply with design requirements and operational functionality
  • Design and update safety circuitry, power circuitry, schematic circuitry and  device net communication circuitry

Commissioning and Programming

  • Structure programming was developed to comply with client specifications
  • Repair of all non conformance
  • Programming Baseline
  • Check all installation for factory acceptance, Installation Quality and Performance Quality
