He has more than 25 years of strong local and international experience in accounting and advisory professional services across a broad range of industries, including almost a decade in engineering services and technology development.
David is an experienced Board member and Audit Risk Committee Chair. Recent roles have focused on director and executive level leadership and management of ASX-listed growth companies in engineering and technology development, corporate development and restructure activities, governance strengthening and oversight, financial control, business systems selection and implementation, and leading various strategic enterprise-wide projects.
Andrew is a professional engineer and project manager with over 20 years’ experience in the infrastructure and utilities industries. He has worked with clients across Australia to deliver complex engineering projects and efficiently manage their asset base.
His career has spanned senior operational and strategic roles within both public and private organisations where he has a strong track record of leading high performing teams to deliver operational excellence, business growth as well as exemplary client outcomes. Andrew is passionate about leading dynamic, multidisciplinary teams that are solving problems for our partners and creating new technologies for the transition to a green economy.
Jason is Synertec’s Head of Engineering. He has delivered large, complex automation projects across a wide range of industries including rail, water, gas, and mining. He is an expert in total plant integration, process control, optimisation, and large scale delivery of automation systems such as Programmable Logic Controls (PLC), Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). Jason’s vast technical knowledge coupled with his project management skills have allowed him to consistently deliver robust and cost effective solutions for his partners.
Lee has extensive experience in engineering and commercial activity over more than 15 years working in Australian industry. He has worked on complex, large-scale projects across a wide range of industries including defence, gas, wastewater, desalination, manufacturing, and power distribution. As Synertec’s Head of Business Development, Lee leads major bids and proposals, and supports Synertec’s client requirements throughout the business lifecycle.
Michelle brings to Synertec over 12 years of experience in process engineering and project management within the pharmaceutical, chemical, water treatment, defence, and dairy industries. She has extensive experience managing capital projects involving complex installations, critical timelines, and stringent quality requirements. Michelle is experienced in implementing and maintaining Quality and OHSE (Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment) systems such as ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), and ISO 14001 (Environmental systems) across the business as well as for specific projects.
As Synertec’s Quality and OHSE Manager, Michelle has been responsible for implementing safety programs on multi-million dollar Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management projects including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and OHSE plans.
Ashleigh’s expertise includes a detailed understanding of financials, project management, audit, documentation, and continual improvement. Ashleigh has held key roles on many of Synertec’s systems engineering projects, including project managing the systems implementation for the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop. Her knowledge and experience enable her to bring both technical and commercial perspectives to her projects and her clients.
As Head of Strategy and Transformation, Ashleigh is accountable for driving and managing the execution of Synertec’s strategic planning process. She oversees a team responsible for project controls at a portfolio level and she is also responsible for the implementation of Synertec’s performance management system, which provides regular dashboard reports to chart performance.
Michael Carroll is a founding principal, Managing Director, and significant beneficial owner of Synertec. He has successfully grown the business since it was first established in 1996. His leadership style is ‘hands-on’ and visionary, ensuring efficient and robust internal processes that directly support the strategic direction of Synertec.
As Managing Director of Synertec, Michael has negotiated complex agreements with a range of parties, such as large multinational energy conglomerates, water utilities, the Australian Department of Defence, and numerous pharmaceutical companies.
Michael has direct experience within the Asian engineering market, having established and sold successful companies in both Singapore and Malaysia.
Michael is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Degree in Applied Science (Applied Chemistry) along with a postgraduate qualification in Chemical Engineering.
Chief Operating Officer
Joern is a successful executive manager with experience in international projects and obtains a high level of technical engineering knowledge. Highly motivated, Joern provides corporate management of Synertec's projects and business development and has a proven ability to succeed in complex, highly regulated and high risk environments. Synertec's marketing and strategy are developed by Joern in conjunction with the managing director and senior management team.

Process, Mechanical & Construction Manager
Matt manages a multi-disciplinary department of process, mechanical & chemical engineers and Synertec’s Design Team. He has over 15 years of experience on EPC projects in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, fuel farms and critical infrastructure industries. He has extensive experience in design, project management and commissioning in projects of a variety of complexity, regulatory requirements, size and scale.
Validation & Compliance Manager
Kylie offers extensive experience in the life sciences, water and oil and gas industries, - managing and validating a variety of projects, specialising in automation projects and including all phases from project initialisation through to construction and handover. Kylie’s systematic approach allows her to manage projects from both the broad and detailed lenses providing project management and validation approaches that are both practical and compliant.
