Project Summary

Synertec were engaged by Olam Foods to provide engineering services to support the design of their new Dry Roasting line to manufacture salted and roasted tree nuts.

The Challenge

Olam Foods required engineering support with experience in the Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment, specifically related to the Food and Beverage industry.

Synertec was engaged to review the major equipment procured by Olam Foods to ensure that all equipment meets the latest Australian Standards specifically with respect to electrical and gas safety regulatory requirements. The challenge was then to design the mechanical and electrical integration and supporting services for the major equipment to satisfy the production requirements.

Synertec’s Solution

Synertec completed a detailed compliance assessment of the technical documentation from each major overseas equipment vendor to ensure it meets stringent Australian Standards with respect to gas and electrical safety.

Once the compliance review was completed, Synertec completed detailed design of the mechanical and electrical integration including material transfer conveyors, fixed platforms, site layouts, process utilities, process ductwork and a new electrical control cabinet.

During the design phase, Synertec was also engaged to facilitate a HAZOP study (Hazard and Operability Analysis) of the new dry roasting manufacturing line. The Study was executed with all stakeholders including operations and maintenance from OFI, along with representatives from the international vendors and an assessment of their equipment and process design.

All final design documentation, drawings and reports were submitted to OFI to commence fabrication, construction and installation of the supporting services and equipment designed by Synertec.
