Project Summary
The Tarago Water Treatment Plant is one of the key treatment facilities in Melbourne’s water supply network, operating alongside the Winneke Water Treatment Plant. Located in Drouin West, Victoria, the plant services the Tarago Reservoir and plays a critical role in supporting Melbourne’s drinking water system.
Following its reconnection to the Melbourne supply network in 2009, the Tarago Water Treatment Plant has provided up to 15 billion litres of clean drinking water annually. The facility utilises a comprehensive and advanced treatment process, including permanganate pre-dosing, coagulation, Dissolved Air Flotation and Filtration (DAFF), UV disinfection, pH correction, and fluoridation.
The Challenge
To ensure Melbourne Water’s treatment plants remain aligned with modern standards and emerging technologies, the fluoridation system at the Tarago Water Treatment Plant was identified for upgrade. This work formed part of the Major Capital Projects program, delivered in collaboration with the SFP Joint Venture (SFPJV).
Synertec's Solution
SFPJV engaged Synertec to deliver the complete electrical design and automation scope for the fluoridation system upgrade at the Tarago Water Treatment Plant.
