Project Summaries
MELBOURNE WATER: EASTERN TREATMENT PLANT PCS7 UPGRADE
Synertec upgraded the Melbourne Water Eastern Treatment Plant Siemens PCS7 system, ensuring the plant achieved its high availability requirements across the large PCS7 network.
MELBOURNE WATER: OTMPD CONTRACT
Synertec provide maintenance support and capital renewal projects to Melbourne Water’s OT Infrastructure. This includes complex brownfield control system upgrades whilst maintaining a high level of availability across all Melbourne Water sites.
JOHN HOLLAND KBR JV: WINNEKE UV DISINFECTION PLANT
Synertec delivered the network and automation scope to support a new UV Disinfection Plant consisting of five in-pipe UV reactors treating up to 615 ML/d of water. This included a CIP system, Citric Acid storage and dosing system and UV Service Water Pumps.
WATER CORPORATION: GWELUP PUMP STATION UPGRADE
The upgrade works at the Gwelup Groundwater Treatment Plant (GWTP) Clearwater Pump Station (CWPS) involved the replacement of the existing pump control PLCs. The works included the supply, design, programming, installation, and commissioning of a new controls system.
SAFETY FIRST PERFORMANCE JV: THOMSON HYDRO 11KV RMU AND 1200KVAR PFC
Synertec integrated and commissioned new electrical works into the existing 7MW Hydro plant at Thomson Dam, including software integration through SFPJV Major Capital Works for MW. To address low voltage and power factor issues during high generation periods, a bespoke multistage capacitor system was installed, comprising two 300kVar stages and one 600kVar stage. Controlled by Hydro PLC logic rather than conventional PFC controllers, the system improves voltage regulation and power factor, ensuring stable power delivery to the Ausnet network. A new RMU connects the PFC system to the hydro generator and upstream network, while integrated HV protection relays provide safe operation with full visibility via MW SCADA.
WATERSURE: VICTORIAN DESALINATION PLANT 24/7 SUPPORT
Synertec provided 24/7 support for the Victorian Desalination Plant control system, which was one of the largest Siemens PCS7 installations in the southern hemisphere.
BEON ENERGY: EASTERN TREATMENT PLANT AND WINNEKE SOLAR FARM
Synertec undertook a combined power and water project to build solar photovoltaic generation plants. The implemented control system allows the water plants to reliably power major equipment from renewable sources.
CENTRAL HIGHLANDS WATER: INTEGRATOR SERVICES PANEL
As part of the services panel, Synertec are providing project works and support for Central Highlands Water’s PLC, SCADA, and telemetry systems across their network. Synertec managed the large-scale rollout of their RTU upgrade project.
SOUTH EAST WATER: ONGOING SUPPORT
For the past eight years, Synertec has had a team of engineers providing support and upgrade services for South East Water. This has included improvements to SCADA, PLC, and RTU control and operations for their network.
MELBOURNE WATER: EASTERN TREATMENT PLANT SUPPORT
Synertec has been continuously engaged by Melbourne Water since 2007 to deliver the ongoing 24/7 support for the Siemens PC7 system at the Eastern Treatment Plant.
